The Theories

One thing I imediately noticed about Steven Universe was that the fanbase was huge and extremely protective of SU. There was always this constant fear that it was on the verge of being cancelled, and Cartoon Network wasn't helping anything by delaying the airing of the episodes, putting the show into constant hiatus, and eventually only airing 5 episode increments every so often. It really felt like Cartoon Network was trying to choke out any interest in the show. It is a pretty gay show, and it was pretty heavily censored in some countries.

But the fanbase made it's own content in those months where the show wasn't airing, and boy did they make a ton of it. Every single detail of every episode was scrutinized, and the crazy thing was that more than half the time this scrutiny wasn't in vain.

There were hints all throughout Steven Universe of what the later seasons held, some obvious, some nearly undetectable. Despite people making college-level dissertations on every line of dialogue, there were still things foreshadowed in season one that didn't relevant until season four in hindsight.
