At the Mountains of Madness

The storyline for a VR game that I’m making :P

When Rebacca Verdes found her husband murdered in their apartment, she could barely understand why. The college professor had been her whole world ever since she had left the military. For him to be murdered for something as banal as a research grant to study ice in the arctic circle defied logic, and so she vowed to find his killer.

But things in the arctic are not what she expected, and upon arriving at the research facilities she finds herself caught in a conspiracy as deep and ancient as the polar ice itself.

Warring States

Danny Herrera is freshly graduated from the high school in his tiny town. He has broken up with his high school sweetheart. His friends have all left town for college, and he’s too poor to go with them. Stuck delivering pizzas all night and sleeping all day, he has no plans or goals.

Then one day he goes to bed and wakes up as someone else.

Grayscale is a woman living in Danny Herrera's mind, created from his past experiences in the hopes of stopping a rogue construct that's slowly destroying the world. Or at least, that's what they're telling her she is. She's pretty sure she's still Danny, and needs to find a way off of this planet that they've named after him, and back into his old body.

But in this strange world, where his emotions are queens, his memories are islands, and his thoughts are citizens, can he really find his way back? The states of his mind are waging civil war while a mysterious demon lord marches on their cities. This world needs a savior, but what they’ve gotten instead is a high school burnout.
