Hi, I’m Reyes!

I'm just a dude who's trying to be a writer and not lose his day job. I like to explore things, like the wilderness or various social groups. That might be largely due to the fact that I've kind of always been a bit of an outsider.

I grew up in the mountains. Well, I kinda grew up all over the place, but I went to High School in a small town in rural Colorado and I kinda consider that to be where I'm from. These days I live in much more of a city, on the eastern side of America where there's really not a ton of wilderness and kind of almost nowhere you can go to be truly alone. So I'm adjusting to that, trying to figure out how to fit more people into my life. Trying to convince myself that letting more people in won't erase parts of me. Yay therapy.

One thing I really love is finding what one of my friends calls "life's hidden levels," those places that are secret and out of the way, known only to people that are willing to seek them out and perform all the steps to become a part of these secret little communities. Like when I joined a BDSM Dungeon in the bible belt, and spent months getting background checked and vetted, and then interviewed, and then they finally gave me the address to their dungeon and a membership. Or like the renaissance fair a few towns over, which wasn’t nearly as hard to get into, but which felt like it had it’s own ecosystem and cliques and which felt a bit cult-y. It’s not enough to see a place, I want to poke around in the underground.

I also love making things, both with my hands and digitally. This site is probably going to be where I host a lot of that. I’ve always loved writing stories, I could post those here, I’m currently addicted to Unreal Engine, so I started a devlog on that project.
